“You must love The Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31
This is one instance in The Bible where Jesus chose not to speak in a parable but speaks clearly to us what is the most important thing that we can do here on earth, which has led us to make it our mission to point our students in this very direction.
Come to know and love God
· It all starts with getting to know Jesus. Whether you grew up in church or are hearing about God for the very first time, we want to join each student in taking that knowledge and relationship with Christ to the next level. We work hard at creating an environment where it is understood that no one is perfect, we are all on different walks of life, and any questions are welcome.
Come to know and love yourself
· The second part Jesus states is “Love your neighbor as yourself”. I love that Jesus adds the “as yourself”! This shows how important loving yourself is! It even sounds as though Jesus is saying if we do not love ourselves, it will be hard for us to genuinely love others. Teenage years can be the most insecure and confusing times. Students are constantly told who they should be by the world’s standards. It is our passion to show students the freedom and joy in knowing who they are in Christ.
Come to know and love others
· The world we live in is becoming more and more self-focused. We desperately want to set our students apart to be examples of Christ and reach outward to others. We have an excellent core group of teenagers that are diverse as well as accepting. It is our mission to constantly reach towards the vision that Jesus is casting of what His Body should look like; accepting, transparent, compassionate.
